We want everyone to know the love of God but we know everyone is different and respect that people discover God their own way.
Church life at Saint George’s aims to be inclusive, varied and rich with plenty for all to be involved. Our regular Worship and Ministry is founded on prayer and allows people to grow in faith at their own pace. Please feel free join us.
Saint George’s Church, stands proud in Saint George’s Square, one of the most spectacular Georgian settings in Worcestershire and with its Arts and Crafts interior by the renowned architect Sir Aston Webb, makes for an exquisite setting.
Our church
Christian life is lived in relationship with God through Jesus Christ, and in common with other Christians in the church seeking to deepen that relationship and to follow the way that Jesus taught.
For Christians God is understood and known as Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
…Father… God is love, caring for creation and for every human being as God’s beloved child.
…Son… God is as he has revealed himself to be in the historical person of Jesus Christ. Jesus’ life, death and resurrection holds the key to knowing and loving God, and to making sense of life, before and after death.
…and Holy Spirit… God is alive, loving and active today, inspiring faith, justice and truth, sustaining the life of the world, giving spiritual gifts to the church and bearing his spiritual fruit in the world – changed lives and a transformed society.
Our Vicar
It was with joy and excitement that we welcomed Reverend Sarah Carwardine to St George’s for her licensing service on Wednesday 5 June.
Shortly after I was ordained someone asked me what God was calling me to do, and I’d thought these questions would stop once I was ordained because surely it was now obvious!
However, I went away and pondered it in my heart – ‘What is God calling me to do as a Priest?’ A phrase kept appearing in my mind, ‘breathe hope.’ That is my calling, to breathe hope.
I can’t help but breathe, my body does it for me, whether I’m working or resting, sleeping or in a spin class! All I need to do is to not hold my breath, all I have to do is to let myself be myself. That allows the hope that God has placed within me to fill the air around me, and all I have to do is to keep feeding that hope through prayer and meditation.
God calls us to do some incredible things and sometimes the task can feel daunting, but actually all we need to do is feed the hope within us and be ourselves.
Some of you will be hoping I bring changes straight away and others will be hoping I change very little, but all I can promise for now is that I will be popping up at all the events I possibly can, getting to know you and learning about the parishes, what they need and listening to what the Holy Spirit is saying in each. And while we work it all out together, I will continue to breathe the hope that God has put in me everywhere I go.
